Taking a Few Steps Back to Move Forward

Feeling stuck

Are you feeling stuck in one place and do not know in what direction to go to get further?

~Sometimes you have to go a few steps back to be able to move forward ~

This is exactly what happened to me. When I finished my Master’s Degree it looked like I have finally achieved my goal, so why the heck did I not feel fulfilled and happy? Why was I not celebrating my success?

At a time in my life when I should have been enjoying my success, being happy with a job well done, I felt an urgent need to just walk away, to leave everything behind that I had been working for. What on earth was wrong with me?

When you loose yourself

It is only now, looking back with that amazing thing called “hindsight” – when I see so clearly, that I realized what had happened and why I felt the way I did.

Somewhere on my journey, somehow along the way, part of me had died.  That little fire inside me, that spark – the cheekiness, that little bit of craziness, the wildness – that was me, wasn’t there anymore. I was living but wasn’t alive.

Thinking about it, I had not experienced those feelings for a long time. They had died along with the fire within me. It felt like I had died and was walking around as an empty shell of myself.

Going back to the happy place

Instinctively I knew I had to get out of the downward spiral I was in – if I didn’t do something soon, I just knew I would be stuck in my rut forever. So I packed myself, left everything behind and returned to the place where I had experienced all of those feelings that I had forgotten, for the first time. Maybe by going back, I could find myself again and be able to move forward.

I wanted to feel alive like that again –  like I used to before.  On my return to London, at first, I had to take a big step backward.  Despite the fact I had solid work experience and was a fresh University graduate, I was doing unskilled jobs like cleaning in the beginning. I knew it would not be for long – but I had to find myself again first.

I didn’t care what others thought, I just cared about how I felt. Once again, I was feeling alive! Free, curious and crazy – just like I had felt before when I was happy, fulfilled and excited. Just happy being me.

Finding you again

That was during this time that I reconnected with myself. What I truly wanted. That was the time I found the right direction to move forward. I was able to see my path forward clearly because I had taken a step back and could now see the picture of future I have always wanted.

I had rediscovered myself, remembered all of my dreams again and was able to finally start believing in myself!

If you are in the same situation as I was, if you have “lost” yourself a little along the way – don’t worry about going back,  to step down or simply let go of things that do not make sense to you any longer.

Do not be afraid to be on your own and to look within yourself. Many of answers you are looking for are actually there, right inside you.

Sometimes you just have to go few steps back in order to move forward. Remember, you don’t have to do it alone.

Clarity is superpower

Why do you keep putting our dreams on hold when there is a way to combine it all?
I believe life is too short to separate work from joy.
I believe there is always a way to create and do what you love and get paid for it.
The only question is do you know what it is?
Clarity is your superpower.
Clarity is simple when you connect with who you really are.
The deeper you go, the more transparent you become.
It’s simple but not easy.
But certainly worth diving deeper.
