The lesson I was reminded recently when I was looking for some kind of excuses for why I should be grateful for what I have while beating up myself for the way I felt. My mind came with all sorts of reasons why I am great at where I am. All because I was afraid of change. “Doing another mistake like many others before?”, was one of the questions my mind was playing with me.  

Truth is there is no mistake and I know it very well. But when it comes to making a decision, I take my time. Change is required, change pushes us to grow and change is good. Once we make it, only then we can see all the beauty that’s been waiting for us on the other side. But until we get there, here are my little tips to be aware and prepare yourself that change is coming for you too.

1. You hear a little whisper, inner voice, some thoughts of new ideas, inspirations. This is the best time to pay attention to those “little things” as I like to call them. They might be the next thing for you.

2. When you ignore those little whispers, the voice gets stronger. It will knock on your door stronger and stronger in the form of discomfort, inner conflict – your negative feelings.

This is the stage when you need to pay attention to your feelings and accept them. It’s OK to feel the way you feel and you have full right this way because those feelings are your guide. Yes, they are your guidance so pay attention to them. When you don’t feel good, it means you are not aligned with who you are and those feelings want to tell you something. Maybe it’s just a little thing, like a miscommunication issue or it’s something that needs your attention to digs deeper.

Ask yourself: why do you want to feel this way? Use paper and notes and put your thoughts = feelings down on the paper. You would be surprised how much you can discover and learn about yourself with this simple technique that you can use anywhere and anytime.

Be kind and gentle with yourself. Don’t suppress those feelings or beat up yourself for the way you feel. Remember, there is always a reason why you feel this way. Once you are clear on the “problem” you will be also clear on possible solutions to find the way out. Don’t stop until you feel relief within you.

When it comes to finding your next step, the problem is more likely deeper and the solution is also scarier. That’s why it’s great to use coaching support to address your fears = limiting beliefs so that you can make the right choice best for you and don’t go for the surface solution, another pill just to numb your symptoms.

3. When you keep ignoring your feelings and you keep “fighting” or suppress your feelings, your body sends you a “kick”. Usually, it’s in various forms like health issues, starting small – headache, back pain, etc.

Many people think that it’s normal and assign those pains to their age. It’s not normal. It’s a clear signal, you are out of balance. You are not in harmony with who you are and what you really want.

Unfortunately, for many people this is not a clear signal yet, so your body keeps kicking and illnesses just roll up into each other. That’s why the older you are, the sicker you get, not because of your age, sadly.

4. Another form of waking you up is signals from the Universe in any kind of form – losing your job, having an accident, unhealthy relationships,… you name it.

Usually, this is the stage when people are forced to make the change and face their reality as it is. Luckily for many, this is finally the lesson when they start looking inside of themselves and getting back to their true nature.

I have seen this cycle on many of my friends and all people around me.

Why is the change scary for many of us? Why do we fight it all the time when we hear it everywhere: “the miracles happen on the other side”?

From my own experience, it is the fear of the unknown, uncertainty. How can you know there is great when you have never experienced it before? You can’t even imagine or visualize something better for yourself when you feel you are losing all you have – something good.

Yes, you are losing good for something greater. You came here to grow, to experience greatness in this world instead, and not settle down for good.

As you can see from the cycle, change is needed to grow, to evolve. You see it from birth – babies grow up, you watch it in nature, you watch it everywhere. Enjoy the process from the beginning then go through all stages of pain and other warnings. Stop fighting. Accept the change as necessary and live it. Learn to love the change.
